  1. Boot Manager 95 Version 1.3a

  3. Boot Manager 95 is a utility to allow you to easily configure your Windows 95
  4. bootup options.  Windows 95 has configurable boot options that are only
  5. documented in the Windows 95 Resource Kit.  This program allows you to change
  6. these options without having to purchase the Resource Kit.

  8. The boot options are stored in the MSDOS.SYS file in the root folder of your
  9. boot drive.  It is a user configurable file that allows you to enable various
  10. boot options that range from booting to a previous version of an operating
  11. system (providing there is one, which is not always the case in an OEM
  12. setup), to setting an optional path to a Windows directory other than the
  13. default established during setup.

  15. Boot Manager 95 allows you to change only the boot options.  The paths should
  16. never need to be changed, and the feature will NOT be added to the range of
  17. options supplied by Boot Manager 95 unless a significant number of users
  18. request it.

  34. Installation
  35. ------------
  36. Installation is really simple; Just create a folder for Boot Manager and copy
  37. BOOTMNGR.EXE, THREED.VBX and README.TXT to it.

  40. De-installation
  41. ---------------
  42. De-installation is as simple as installation; Just delete the folder for Boot
  43. Manager and the files it contains (Not forgetting any shortcuts you may have
  44. created!).  The program does not contain any hidden code that hooks into
  45. Windows 95 and only ever modifies your MSDOS.SYS file.

  48. System requirements
  49. -------------------
  50. This Application was designed to run under Windows 95.  It will not run
  51. under Windows 3.0, 3.1, 3.11, Windows for Workgroups or Windows NT.

  53. NOTE: This application requires the file "VBRUN300.DLL" to be located in your
  54.       "windows\system" folder in order to load and run correctly.  If you
  55.       don't have this file it can be found on most PC related forums on
  56.       CompuServe, many cover-mounted CD-ROM's and diskettes and also on most
  57.       PC related BBS's.

  60. Usage
  61. -----
  62. To start Boot Manager 95, double click on the BOOTMNGR.EXE file from within
  63. Explorer or specify the BOOTMNGR.EXE file in the RUN dialog, accessible from
  64. the Start menu on the task bar (optionally, add a shortcut to Boot Manager 95
  65. from your Start menu for continued easy access).

  67. To use Boot Manager 95 select the tab that contains the setting(s) you want
  68. to change and check or uncheck the option.  Most of the options are self
  69. explanatory, and instant help is given on screen for all available options.

  73. --------------
  74.     1.3a    -   Minor bug fixes:
  75.                 Boot drive from initial welcome screen was not being saved to
  76.                 the BOOTMNGR.INI file and thus was not being transferred to
  77.                 the configuration tab of the main dialogue.
  78.                 The text in the Boot Drive Help dialogue was not displayed
  79.                 correctly.
  80.                 Minor corrections to documentation and addition of
  81.                 de-installation section.

  84.                 Fixed BootFailSafe message at boot.
  85.                 Improved UI no longer needs TABPRO11.VBX.

  95.                 Sorry, can't use the Windows 95 Registry until the 32-bit
  96.                 version!)
